Made with size 20 thread, this ornament is about 3" tall. No split rings, only ball and shuttle thread are needed.

Abbreviations:

Body
Ring of 24 ds.

Chain: 3ds, (p, 3ds) 12x. Join the chain to the top of the ring where you started your chain. The chain wraps around the outside of the ring.

Wing
Continue with the chain, 3ds, j to 1st p of the chain, 2ds (p, 2ds) 7x. Rw.

*[Ring: 6ds, p, 6ds. Rw.

Chain, 2ds, (p, 2ds) 5x. Join the chain into the picot in the previous ring. Rw.]**

Repeat between [ ] once, join but do not rw, continue to chain 15ds, join to the next free picot on the body of the angel.

Continue to chain 15ds. Snug up the two chains, and join to the spot where the previous chain joined to the last ring. The tops of the double stitches on the chains should touch each other and lay fairly flat; you can adjust some when you block the angel.

Rw. Repeat from * two more times, stop at the ** the second repeat. Chain 10ds, sp (small picot) 5ds, join to the 4th p of the body of the angel.

Skirt
Chain 5ds, join to sp in previous chain. rw. Ring 3ds, sp(small picot) 3ds rw.

Chain 10ds, join to spot where the previous chain joined to the last ring of the wing, rw. Ring 6ds, sp 6ds rw.

Chain 15ds rw. Ring 12ds, sp 12ds rw.

+Chain, 2ds, (p, 2ds) 7x. Join the chain into the picot in the previous ring.

Continue to chain 15ds. join to sp of 6p6 ring.

Continue to chain 10ds. join to sp of 3p3 ring.

Continue to chain 5ds, join to next p on angel's body.

Continue to chain 5ds, snug up the two chains, and join to the spot where the previous chain joined to the last ring. Rw, 3ds, sp 3ds rw.

Chain 10ds, snug up the two chains, and join to the spot where the previous chain joined to the last ring. Rw, 6ds, sp 6ds rw.

Chain 15ds, snug up the two chains, and join to the spot where the previous chain joined to the last ring. Rw, 12ds, sp 12ds rw.

Repeat from + to make the skirt, four more times. End after joining to the 9th picot on the angel's body.

2nd Wing
Continue to chain 5ds, snug up the two chains, and join to the spot where the previous chain joined to the last ring.

Continue the chain 10ds, snug up the two chains, and join to the spot where the previous chain joined to the last ring rw.

Chain, 2ds, (p, 2ds) 5x. Join the chain into the picot in the previous ring. Rw.]

Repeat between [ ] once, join but do not rw, **continue to chain 15ds, join to the next free picot on the body of the angel.

Continue to chain 15ds. Snug up the two chains, and join to the spot where the previous chain joined to the last ring.

Rw. Repeat from * two more times, stop at the ** the second repeat. You should have a total of six rings and be ready to make the long chain with picots to form the top of the wing.

Continue with the chain, 2ds (p, 2ds) 7x, join to the 12th p of the angle's body, 3ds, j to base of first ring (where the first chain begins.

Head
Ring of 30 ds

Halo
Chain 3ds, (p 2ds) 16x, p, 3ds, join to the other side of the head, this chain 'wraps around' the head to form the halo.

Finish ends, block and stiffen.
