Coats & Clark's "Red Heart" Super Fingering, 3 Ply (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins): 4 ounces of No. 230 Yellow.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 1/0 (zero). Crochet Hook Size H.
GAUGE: 9 sc = 2 inches;
9 rows = 2 inches.
Scarf measures 11 x 42 inches
Red Heart "Sayelle" may be used instead of Knitting Worsted. Always be sure to check your gauge before starting garment.
Starting at a corner with Size H hook, ch 2.
1st row: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn. Note: Work through back loop of each st throughout.
2nd row: 2 sc in first sc - 1 sc increased; sc in next sc, inc 1 sc in last sc - 5 sc. Ch 1, turn.
3rd row: Inc 1 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to within last sc, inc 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat 3rd row until there are 69 sc on row, and each short edge measures about 11 inches. Ch 1, turn.
Next row: Inc 1 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to within last 2 sc; draw uip a loop in each of next 2 sc, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook - l sc decreased. Ch 1, turn.
Following row: Dec 1 sc over the first 2 sc, sc in each sc across to within last sc, inc 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat last 2 rows until longest edge measures about 42 inches.
Next row: Decreasing 1 sc at both ends, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last row until 3 sc remain. Ch 1. turn.
Last row: Draw up a loop in each sc, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. Break off and fasten. Block to measurements.
BORDER
1st rnd: Being careful to keep work flat, with No. 1/0 hook sc evenly around entire edge, making 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc. Turn.
2nd rnd: Sl st in each sc around. Join. Break off and fasten.
FRINGE
Cut 6 strands of yarn, each 7 inches long. Double these strands to form a loop. Insert hook through end st of narrow edge and draw loop through. Draw loose ends through loop and pull up tightly (tassel made). Make 17 tassels across each narrow edge to form fringe. Trim fringe evenly.
