Argyle Cable knit Afghan Pattern

Materials: Worsted-weight yarn Berella "4" (100% Acrilan Acrylic, 220 yards per 3 1/2 oz/100g skein) by Spinrite: 10 skeins #8941 Winter White (MC), 2 skeins each of #8877 Med Sea Green (Col A) & #8838 Med Navy (Col B), 1 skein #8929 Geranium (Col C). Knitting Needles size 10 (6mm) or size needed to obtain Gauge. Cable Needle. Stitch markers. 6 Bobbins.

Size: Approximately 50" x 70", excluding fringe.

Gauge: 16 sts and 22 rows = 4" in St st.

Notes

• Afghan is worked in panels and then sewn together.
• Use a bobbin for each color change, except where the color is used again after 1 or 2 sts of another colour. In these cases, the color may be carried loosely across back of work.
• When changing colors, always hold the color which has just been worked to the left and pick up the new color from underneath. This twists the yarns so that there are no holes.

Special Abbreviations
C4B Cable 4 Back: Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in back, k2, k2 from cable needle.

Cable Pattern: (worked over 23 sts)
Row 1: (RS) K1, p2, k4, p2, k5, p2, k4, p2, k1.
Row 2 & all WS Rows: P1, k2, p4, k2, p1, k3, p1, k2, p4, k2, p1.
Row 3: K1, p2, C4B, p2, k5, p2, C4B, p2, k1.
Row 5: Same as Row 1.
Row 6: Same as Row 2.

Argyle Panel (make 3)
With MC, CO 39 sts.
Row 1: K5, PM, k29, PM, k5.
Row 2: K5, p29, k5.
Beg following Argyle chart, working the sts inside markers in St st according to chart and the sts outside markers in garter st. Work chart 3 1/2 times, ending on row indicated. Work 2 rows in MC, working the sts inside markers in St st and the sts outside markers in garter st; BO.

Left Cable Panel (make 1)
With MC, CO 31 sts.
Row 1: K1, PM, work Row 1 of Cable pat across next 23 sts, PM, k7. Working the sts inside markers in Cable pat and the sts outside markers in garter st, work Cable pat 68 times; BO.

Right Cable Panel (make 1)
With MC, CO 31 sts.
Row 1: K7, PM, work Row 1 of Cable pat across next 23 sts, PM, k1. Cont as for Left Cable Panel.

Center Cable Panel (make 2)
With MC, cast on 25 sts.
Row 1: K1, PM, work Row 1 of Cable pat across next 23 sts, PM, k1. Cont as for Left Cable Panel.

Finishing
Sew panels together as follows: Right Cable Panel, Argyle Panel, Center Cable Panel, Argyle Panel, Center Cable Panel, Argyle Panel, Left Cable Panel.

Fringe
Cut strands of MC 10" long. Knot 2 strands in every 3rd st across each short end. Trim ends even.
