MATERIALS:
Knitting worsted, (2) 3-1/2 oz. skeins each of 4 variegated combinations (Red Heart Nos. 941, 943, 957, 958).
Aluminum crochet hook size K.
GAUGE: 2 sts (1 dc, ch 1 OR 1 tr, ch 1) = 1"

Note: Work with 4 strands tog throughout.
CLOCHE: Beg at center of crown, with 4 strands, ch 3.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 3rd ch from hook. Do not join rnds; mark end of rnds.
Rnd 2: * Ch 1, dc in next sc, ch 1, dc in same sc, ch 1, repeat from around-12 dc and ch- 1 sps.
Rnd 3: * Dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in same ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, repeat from around-18 dc and ch-1 sps.
Rnd 4: * Dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, repeat from * around.
Rnd 5: * Dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in same ch-1 sp, ch 1, (dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 5 times, repeat from * around-21 dc and ch-1 sps.
Rnd 6: * (Dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 4 times, dc in same ch-1 sp as last dc, ch 1, repeat from * around -25 dc and ch-1 sps.
Rnds 7-10: Repeat rnd 4.
Rnd 11: * Dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in same ch-1 sp, ch 1, repeat from * around. Sl st in first st; end off. Make a chain 36" long. Starting at left side of hat, run chain through rnd 10. Tie ends tog.

SCARF: Beg at one end, ch 20.
Row 1: Tr in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, sk 1 ch, tr in next ch, repeat from across-8 tr, 8 sps. Ch 4, turn.
Row 2: Tr in first sp, * ch 1, tr in next sp, repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn. Repeat row 2 until piece is 25" long.
Next Row: Sk first sp, tr in next sp, * ch 1, tr in next sp, repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn. Repeat last row until there are 5 sps across. Work even until piece is 60" long. Inc 1 sp on each of next 3 rows by working 2 tr in last sp. Work even until piece is 88" long. End off.
