Sizes: Directions are written for birth to 3 months size with changes for 3 to 6 months in parentheses. Finished chest measurements are 19 (21)"

Materials: Sport-weight yarn Cuddlesoft(100% Acrilan Acrylic by Caron: Jacket, Bonnet and Booties: 3 skeins (5oz) White (MC); 1 skein (2oz) Lilac (CC). Crochet hooks, sizes F & G or size needed to obtain Gauge. 3 1/4 yards of 3/8" satin ribbon. Yarn needle.

Gauge: 20 sc and 23 rows = 4" with larger hook. To save time, take time to check your gauge.

Notes
Change colors as follows: In last st before changing to new color, work until 2 loops remain on hook. With new color, yarn over and draw through last 2 loops on hook.

With larger hook and MC, loosely ch 64 (82).

Row 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in first dc and in each dc across to first ch-2 sp, 3 sc in ch-2 sp, [sc in each dc across to next ch-2 sp, 3 sc in ch-2 sp] across, sc in each dc across.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn; dc in next sc and in each sc across to center sc of 3-sc group, [work Shell in center dc, dc in each sc across to next center dc of 3-sc group] across, dc in each sc across.

Body
Row 1: Ch 1, turn; sc in first dc and in each dc across to ch-2 sp, sc in ch-2 sp, sk next 41 (44) dc (Armhole made), sc in next ch-2 sp, sc in each dc across to next ch-2 sp, sc in ch-2 sp, sk next 41 (44) dc (Armhole made), sc in next ch-2 sp, sc in each dc across--92 (104) sc.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn; dc in next sc and in each sc across, pull up a long lp so that the sts will not unravel and remove hook--92 (104) dc.

Row 3: Turn; with WS facing, join CC with sl st bet first 2 dc, ch 1, sc in same sp, [ch 2, sk next 3 dc, sc bet dc] across, pull up a long lp and remove hook.
Row 4: Do not turn;with WS still facing, insert hook in MC lp and adjust lp, sl st in end of first sc, ch 3, work 3 dc in each ch-2 sp across, dc in top of turning ch on row below, pull up a long lp and remove hook.
Row 5: Turn; with RS facing, insert hook in CC lp and adjust lp, ch 3, sc bet first 2 dc, [ch 2, sk next 3 dc, sc bet dc] across, pull up a long lp and remove hook.

Sleeve
Row 1: With RS of Jacket toward you, having WS of Armhole facing, and using larger size hook, join MC with sl st in first dc of Armhole, ch 1, sc in same st and in each dc across--41 (44) sc.
Row 2: (RS) Rep Row 2 of Body--41 (44) dc.
Rows 3-14 (18): Rep Rows 3-6 of Body 3 (4) times. Fasten off CC only.

Sleeve Ribbing
Row 1: With smaller hook, ch 8 loosely, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across--7 sc.
Row 2: (RS) Sk first 2 dc on Sleeve, sl st in next 2 dc, turn; sk sl sts, sc in back lp only of each sc across--7 sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in back lp only of each sc across. Rep Rows 2 & 3 across Sleeve, end last rep of Row 3 with sl st in top of turning ch. Fasten off. With RS tog, sew Sleeve seam. Rep for 2nd Sleeve.

Neck Edging
Row 1: (RS) With RS facing and larger hook, join MC with sl st in first ch of beg ch, ch 1, sc in same st and in next 6 (9) chs, sk next ch, sc in next 13 (16) chs, sk next ch, sc in next 18 (24) chs, sk next ch, sc in next 13 (16) chs, sk next ch, sc in last 7 (10) chs--58 (76) sc.

Front Edging
Sl st across end of Row 2 of Neck Edging, working in end of dc rows over both turning chs, work group in end of each dc row across front to last row, work 2 groups in last row, sk 3-dc group on bottom front, [work group bet dc, sk next 3 dc] across, work 2 groups in end of first dc row on front, work group in end of each dc row across front to Row 2 of Neck Edging, sl st in sc row before Row 2; fasten off. Weave ribbon through ch-2 sps at Neck edge.

Brim Edging
With WS of Bonnet facing, join MC with sl st bet first 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in same sp, [sk 3-dc group, work (sl st, ch 2, 2 dc) bet dc] across to last 2 dc, sl st bet last 2 dc; fasten off.

Neck Edging
Fold Brim matching the dc rows of Brim to the dc rows of Bonnet. With RS facing and working through end of both rows, join MC with sl st in end of first row, ch 2, 2 dc in same sp, work (sl st, ch 2, 2 dc) in end of each dc row across to Brim, working through end of both rows, work (sl st, ch 2, 2 dc) in end of next 2 rows, sl st in end of last 2 rows; fasten off. Sew ribbon to each side of Brim as shown in photo.
