Size:
Approximately 48" x 65" excluding tassels.

Materials: Lion Brand Jiffy, 100% Acrylic with Bounce-Back® Fibers, bulky weight yarn, 3-oz./135-yd. skein: 19 Fisherman #99; Size 10/J (6 mm) crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge; One 6" x 8" cardboard piece

Gauge: One chevron rep = 3" across; To save time, take time to check your gauge.

Notes:
Afghan is worked on a sc base instead of a traditional ch. Work Row 1 of Main Section counting each row of sc base as a st.

Special Abbreviations
Beg Puff St: In specified st, [yo, draw up a lp] twice, yo, draw through 4 lps on hook, yo, draw through rem 2 lps.
Puff St: In specified st, [yo, draw up a lp] 3 times, yo, draw through 6 lps on hook, yo, draw through rem 2 lps.


Afghan: Sc Base:
Ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook; turn--1 sc.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in sc; turn.
Rows 2-129: Rep Row 1; do not turn at end of Row 129.

Main Section:
Row 1: Working along side of rows of sc base (see "Notes"), ch 3, (beg puff st, ch 1, puff st) in first st; *ch 2, sk next st, dc in 3 sts, ch 2, sk next st, [leaving 2 lps on hook work puff st in next st, sk next st, leaving 1 lp on hook work puff st in next st, sk next st, leaving 1 lp on hook work puff st in next st, yo and draw through all 4 lps on hook] for puff cluster, ch 2, sk next st, dc in 3 sts, ch 2, sk next st**, [puff st, (ch 1, puff st) twice] in next st; rep from * across, ending last rep at **, (puff st, ch 1, puff st) in last st; turn--8 chevron reps across.

Rep Row 2 until 65" from beg. Fasten off.



Finishing: Tassels (make 17):
Wind double strands of yarn held tog around 8" width of cardboard piece 15 times. Cut an 18"-length of yarn and insert under one end of wraps. Pull tightly and tie securely. Take yarn off cardboard. Wrap 2nd length of yarn around tassel 1" down from top several times, and hide ends within tassel. Attach a tassel to each point at both ends of afghan. Trim ends of tassels evenly.
