MATERIALS: Caron Wintuk *, 100% Solutia acrylic with Bounce-Back fibers, worsted weight yarn, 3.5-oz. skein: 5 skeins each of Persimmon (A), Off White (B), and Spring Meadow (C); 1 skein Sunset Apricot (D)
Crochet hook size 9/I (5.5 mm), or size to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each square = 8" square

SIZE: Approximately 48" x 64"

AFGHAN
Square: Make 48. With A, ch 6; join with a sl st to beg ch to form a ring. Rnd 1 (Right Side): Ch 1, work 16 sc in ring; sl st to beg sc. Rnd 2: Ch 5 (counts as first hdc and ch 3), sk next st; * hdc in next st, ch 3, sk next st; rep from * around, sl st in 2nd ch of beg ch-5-8 ch-3 lps. Rnd 3: Ch 1, work (sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-3 sp around; sl st in beg sc-8 petals. Fasten off. Center: With right side facing, join D in any skipped st of Rnd 2. Ch 1, (2 sc, 2 hdc, sc) in same st, work (sc, 2 hdc, sc) in each skipped st of Rnd 2, sl st in beg sc-8 petals. Fasten off. Rnd 4: With right side facing, join A bet any 2 sc of Rnd 3. Ch 1; * sc bet 2 sc, ch 5 behind next petal of Rnd 3; rep from * around; sl st to beg sc. Rnd 5: Ch 1, work (sc, hdc, 6 dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-5 sp around; sl st to beg sc-8 petals. Fasten off. Rnd 6: With right side facing, join B in 3rd st of any petal of Rnd 5. Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 5, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st; * ch 5, sc in 3rd st of next petal, ch 5, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st; rep from * around, ending last rep with ch 2, dc in beg sc to form last lp-16 lps. Rnd 7: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 3 dc in same lp, (ch 2, 3 sc in next ch-5 sp) 3 times, ch 2; * work (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next ch-5 lp (corner made), (ch 2, 3 sc in next ch-5 sp) 3 times, ch 2; rep from * twice more, (4 dc, ch 2) in first ch-5 lp; sl st to top of beg ch-3; turn. Rnd 8: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc in sp formed by ch-2 at end of Rnd 7, (ch 2, 3 sc in center of next 3-sc group) 3 times, ch 2; * work (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next corner ch-2 sp, (ch 2, 3 sc in center of next 3-sc group) 3 times, ch 2; rep from * twice more, ending (4 dc, ch 2) in first corner ch-2 sp, sl st in top of beg ch-3. Rnd 9: With right side facing, join C in any corner ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same sp, * hdc in next dc, sc in next dc, sl st in next dc, [working over ch-2 of Rnd 7 and Rnd 8 tog, (dc, 2 tr, dc) in next sp] 4 times, sl st in next dc, sc in next dc, hdc in next dc, work (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 sp; rep from * 3 times more, ending (2 dc, ch 1) in first ch-2 corner sp, sl st in top of beg ch-3. Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY: Place 2 squares right sides tog. Join D in righ-hand corner ch-1 sp, sl st in next 2 dc of both squares, sl st in next hdc and sc on front square only, (sl st in next sl st and dc on front square only, sl st in next 2 tr of both squares, sl st in next dc on front square only) 4 times, sl st in (next sl st, sc, hdc) on front square only, sl st in next 2 dc and corner ch-1sp of both squares. Fasten off. Join rem squares in same manner for a pattern of 6 motifs across and 8 down.
