MATERIALS:
Worsted-weight yarn Wintuk (100% Acrilan Acrylic, 213 yards per 3-1/2 oz. skein) by Caron:
12 skeins #3160 Dark Colonial Blue (MC)
7 skeins #3001 White (CC).
Crochet hook size Q (16mm) or whatever size needed to get correct gauge
Yarn Needle
6" long piece of cardboard for making tassels.
Size: approximately 48" x 70" excluding tassels.
Gauge: Using 3 strands of yarn held together as one, each strip = 8" wide. To save time, take time to check your gauge.
Note Work with 3 strands of yarn held together as 1 throughout.
Strips (make 6)
Row 1: With 3 strands MC, ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, turn.
Rows 2-73: Sc in sc, ch 1, turn. Ch 3 (counts as dc) instead of 1 at end of Row 73.
Rnd 1: Work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in last sc worked, working along sides of rows, dc in each row across to last sc, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in last sc. Working along opposite side, dc in each row across, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3-144 dc; fasten off.
Rnd 2: (RS) Join 3 strands CC in any ch-2 sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) in same sp, *sk next dc, ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next dc, working along side of strip, ch 1, sk next st, [sc in next st, ch 1, sk next st] 36 times, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next st, ch 1, sk next st*, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch-2 sp, rep from * to * once, join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: (RS) Join 3 strands MC in any end ch-2 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same sp, *2 dc in next ch-1 sp, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch-1 sp, 2 dc in each of 37 ch-1 sps across, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch-1 sp, 2 dc in next ch-1 sp*, (2 dc ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp; rep from * to * once, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3, fasten off.
Rnd 4: (RS) Join 3 strands CC in any end ch-1 sp, ch 1, 3 sc in same sp, *sc in each st to next ch-1 sp, 2 sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in each st across to next ch-1 sp, 2 sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in each st to end ch-1 sp*, 3 sc in end; rep from * to * once, join with a sl st in first sc; fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Sew sides of strips tog using a double strand of CC.
Tassels (make 12)
Wind 3 strands of MC around cardboard 10 times. Tie tightly at top of cardboard and remove. Tie around tassel 1" below top. Cut bottom and trim. Sew a tassel at the center of each end of each strip.
