Holiday Pet Collars

Materials:
Elastic size suitable for your pet
Holiday grosgrain ribbon, approximately 1/2" to 3/4" wider than the elastic
Bells at a size appropriate for the ribbon

Measure your pet's neck. Cut the elastic to this measurement. Cut two pieces of ribbon twice the length of the neck measurement. Mark bell placement on one ribbon length and hand-stitch the bells in place.

Place wrong sides of ribbons together (with bells on top). To form the ribbon casing, begin stitching 1/2" from ribbon end using 1/4" seam allowance and ending 1/2" before the other end of ribbon. Repeat for other side.

Thread the elastic through ribbon casing. Overlap ends of elastic and stitch together.

Move the newly formed elastic seam further into casing away from opening. Tuck raw edges of ribbon inside casing so ribbon meets and no elastic is exposed. Join ribbon ends together by whip stitching or using a decorative machine stitch.
