Flat Christmas Snowman Ornament
MATERIALS:
Size I hook
small amount worsted weight yarn: white, black, and CC ( recommend blue, red or green)
2 small black pom poms (eyes)
3 larger black pom poms (buttons)
1 small red pom pom (nose)
red yarn or felt (mouth)
SIZE: Approximately 7 1/2" tall.
DIRECTIONS:
CIRCLE #1 (top):
With white, ch 3, join to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 11 hdc in ring, join to top of beg ch-2. (12 hdc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same sp, * 2 sc in each hdc around, join to first sc, finish off leaving an end of about 6". (24 sc)
CIRCLE #2 (middle):
With white, ch 3, join to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 11 hdc in ring, join to top of beg ch-2. (12 hdc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same sp, * 2 dc in each hdc around, join to top of beg ch-3, end off. (24 dc)
CIRCLE #3 (bottom):
With white, ch 3, join to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 11 hdc in ring, join to top of beg ch-2. (12 hdc)
Rnd 2: Ch 4, 1 trc in same sp, * 2 trc in each hdc around, join to top of beg ch-4, finish off leaving end of about 6". (24 trc)
SCARF:
Using CC, ch 20. Hdc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn, sl st into 9th ch from hook. Sl st into st on the opposite side of work (loop formed), end off.
HAT:
With black, ch 8.
Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, end off. (7 hdc)
Row 2: Join CC in 6 hdc of Row 1, ch 1, turn. Sc in same st, sc in next 4 hdc, end off. (5 sc)
Row 3: Join black in same st, ch 1, turn. Sc in same st, sc in next 4 sc.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, sc in next 4 sc, end off.
FINISHING:
Join the 3 circles together (using the 6" ends on the first and third circle) by sl st them together for about 4 or 5 sts. Note: Make sure circles are lined up straight when joining the third circle. Hide all loose ends on snowman, scarf and hat. Lightly press snowman so that it lies flat. Put scarf on by inserting snowman's head into scarf loop. Adjust scarf so it hangs down and secure on the middle circle with a dab of glue. Glue hat onto head. Glue red nose in center of top circle. Glue on 2 black pom poms for eyes and small piece of yarn or felt for mouth. For buttons, glue black pom poms in the middle of the 2nd and 3rd circles and where you joined those 2 circles. Add hanging loop if desired.
