Crochet Candle Pattern
MATERIALS:
Size I and G hooks
4 ply worsted weight yarn: red, white green and gold
empty toilet paper roll
SIZE: 5 1/2" tall including wick.
DIRECTIONS:
Using I hook and red yarn, ch 3, join to form circle.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 9 hdc in circle, join to top of beg ch-2. (10hdc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, join to top of beg ch-2. (20 hdc)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, in BLO hdc in each hdc around, join to top of beg ch-2. (20 hdc)
Rnd 4-12: Ch 2, hdc in both loops for each st around, join to top of bed ch-2, end off. (20 hdc)
Rnd 13: Join green in any st, ch 2, hdc in each st around, join to top of beg ch-2, end off. (20 hdc)
Rnd 14: Join red in any st, ch 2, hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, join to top of beg ch-2, end off. (40 hdc)
Rnd 15: Join green in any st, ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join to top of beg ch-3, end off. (80 dc)
Rnd 16: Join white in any st, ch 3, dc in next st, ch 3, * dc in next 2 sts, ch 3 *, repeat * around, join top top of beg ch-3, end off. (80 dc and 40 ch-3 sps)
WICK: Using G hook and gold yarn, ch 6 leaving about a 3 inch strand at the beginning. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in last ch, end off leaving about a 3 inch strand at the end. Tie the beginning and ending threads together with a double knot.
FINISHING: Hide all threads on the candle (not the wick). Insert yarn ends from the wick into the top of the candle and tie inside. Slip candle on to toilet paper roll.
